📘 New to Part 2? Read the 6-step strategy and use the 2-minute timer
STEP 1 — First 10 seconds (prep)
Read all bullet points carefully. Choose the angle you know most about. Don't panic — every topic has something to say.
STEP 2 — Next 40 seconds (notes)
Write 3–4 key words for each bullet. Don't write full sentences — just triggers. Use the paper provided in the exam.
STEP 3 — Last 10 seconds (breathe)
Take a breath. You have notes. Start with a strong opener — "I'd like to talk about..." or "The place I want to describe is..."
STEP 4 — Structure your 2 minutes
Pick one of two reliable templates so you never go blank:
A · Past → Present → Future
e.g. "I started this hobby five years ago… now I do it every weekend… in the future I plan to…"
B · Problem → Solution → Opinion
e.g. "There was an issue with… we tackled it by… overall I feel that this experience taught me…"
STEP 5 — When you run out of ideas
  • Compare with someone else — "Unlike my brother, who…"
  • Describe feelings — "What really stood out for me was how I felt…"
  • Speculate about the future — "I imagine that in a few years…"
STEP 6 — Common mistakes examiners notice
  • Reading bullets word-for-word instead of speaking naturally.
  • Stopping before 1.5 minutes — they will let you talk for the full 2.
  • Going off-topic — always tie back to the bullet points.
2-MINUTE PRACTICE TIMER
2:00
